Enrique M. De La Cruz, Ph.D.
Dr. Enrique M. De La Cruz is a Cuban-American biophysicist renowned for his research on the cytoskeleton and molecular mechanisms of cellular organization. He serves as the William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry and the Head of Branford College at Yale University, where he mentors students and leads academic programming within the residential college system. He earned his undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry from Rutgers University-Newark and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. De La Cruz’s research has advanced the understanding of actin filament dynamics and molecular motor proteins, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and leadership roles in scientific societies. He is also an associate editor of the Journal of Biological Chemistry and was recognized as one of the most inspiring Hispanic/Latinx scientists, reflecting his impact as both a researcher and educator.
