Melvin Gonzalez serves as the Chief Compliance & Ethics Officer for the Hispanic Health Council (HHC) and the National Hispanic Health Research Institute (NHHRI), a Latino-led community research institute advancing health equity and social justice. With a career rooted in health and human services, he helps strengthen organizational integrity, accountability, and sustainable operations—ensuring that community impact is matched with strong internal systems and ethical leadership. 

In his leadership, Melvin has supported measurable organizational growth, including increased staffing, improved retention, and expanded operating capacity. He also contributes to strategic initiatives that connect research, community-based services, and partnerships with universities and government stakeholders—centering communities as co-creators of knowledge rather than subjects of research. He is committed to building equitable organizations and scalable community solutions that improve outcomes for Hispanic, Latino, and other vulnerable communities.
